Cabaret Mattachine (Tiger Dublin Fringe, 2015)

Written and performed by myself, Cabaret Mattachine is a solo memoir about the search for community, incorporating original music, storytelling, drag, cheeky polemics, physical theatre and a powder blue ukulele. Following a sell-out run at Tiger Dublin Fringe, where the show was nominated for the Judges Choice Award, Cabaret Mattachine was revived to coincide with Ireland’s historic Marriage Equality referendum. Our initial production was a site specific performance at Molloy and Dowling Dispensing Opticians on Kildare Street; a venue unique in its surroundings, which lent this initial production a particular charm. Cabaret Mattachine was the first performance of my cabaret alter ego Stefan Fae.

Praise for cabaret mattachine:

“(Stefan) Fae, an otherworldly creature in a blue kimono with a face full of glitter, has a demeanour that is both gentle and risqué.” Cabaret Mattachine featured in “The Art of Winning a Referendum” on Broadwayworld.com

Nominated for the Judges Choice Award at Tiger Dublin Fringe 2015.
